The Cyber Crimes Bill No. 30 of 2024

Did you know? The Cyber Crimes Bill No. 30 of 2024  will be deliberated on a date to be advised during the current Fourth Session of the Thirteenth Assembly of Parliament which will end in March. 

The proposed Bill will repeal and replace the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act, of 2021. Civil Society in Zambia has raised concerns about some provisions in the bill that can potentially negatively impact freedom of expression and other human rights rights including facilitating abuse of power to stop dissenting voices online as it has vague and broad definitions.

The Bill will also provide for; offences relating to computers and computer systems, the protection of persons against cyber crimes, and child online protection.
