Safecity/Google app/Apple app is an initiative committed to creating safer communities for everyone. Our goal is to empower citizens by helping them understand the potential risks they could face in different neighbourhoods. Safecity collects real experiences anonymously and provides real time statistics of crime hotspots. There are Safecity Chapters across the world including in Lusaka, Zambia. The Safecity Platform provides a platform for people to report incidents of sexual violence anonymously and in a safe manner. Each incident is personal and gives users of the platform the chance to report what happened without judgement. Through the reports, researchers and platform users are able to determine crime hotspots. The data collected provides an insight into crime in the city.
