Did you know? The Penal Code is being amended and a draft, the Penal Code Amendment Bill will be presented on a date to be advised for second reading during the current Fourth Session of the Thirteenth Assembly of parliament which will end in March.

The objects of this bill is to amend the Penal Code so as to: strengthen the law on the offence of expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for person or group of persons; provide for the offence of stealing medicine, allied substances, medical supplies, medical equipment, critical information and electronic communications apparatus; redefine the word “vandalism”; revise penalties relating to vandalism; and make the possession, conveyance and receipt of vandalised property or material an offence.
