Claims on X (formerly Twitter) that the World Health Organization (WHO) has ordered governments to cancel upcoming elections due to a bird flu outbreak are false. PesaCheck verified that an article from The People’s Voice alleging such directives was not supported by any information on WHO’s website. In a press briefing, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized influenza surveillance and protection for farmers but did not mention election cancellations.
