We held a civil society meet-up to network on cyber legislation in Zambia.
This provided a platform to assess the implementation of cyber legislation that were enacted in 2021.

Since 2017, Bloggers of Zambia has been implementing interventions to influence internet law and policy formulation and implementation in Zambia.
In 2021, the government enacted the Data Protection Act, Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act and Data Protection Act. Some parts of the Cyber Security and Cybercrimes Act remain subject to litigation while the other legislation is enforceable.
It is the role of civil society, media and other stakeholders to monitor the status of cyber legislation.
Also, important is monitoring implementation of this legislation to offer transparency and accountability and avoid excesses by the ICT regulator and law enforcement.
