A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) falsely claims that The Simpsons predicted a monkeypox outbreak in 2002. The clip, however, has been edited to promote this conspiracy theory, piecing together scenes from different episodes of the show, including “Labor Pains” (2013) and “Milhouse of Sand and Fog” (2005), neither of which mention monkeypox. PesaCheck used Google Lens to verify that the video is a fabricated edit and clarified that while both chickenpox and monkeypox share similar names, they are distinct diseases caused by unrelated viruses.
