Nshindano unveils final 2021 voters register

Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Electoral Officer Patrick Nshindano today revealed during a press briefing held in Lusaka, Zambia that the certified 2021 Register of Voters stands at seven million, twenty three thousand four hundred and ninety nine voters, of which three million seven hundred and fifty one thousand and forty are female representing 53.4% voters and three million two hundred and seventy two thousand four hundred and fifty nine are male representing 46.6% voters.

Mr. Nshindano further disclosed that the province with the highest number of registered voters is Lusaka, with 17.1%, while the province with the lowest number of registered voters is northwestern province, with 5.51%

He further stated that Out of 359 appeals, 66 were sustained and 293 were denied, and further out of 8 appeals, 4 were denied and 4 were sustained.

The ECZ Chief Electoral Officer further revealed that in the first provisional register, there were 18,086 duplicated registrations with the difference between the final register and the provisional register being 21,106, representing 0.3%

According to the certified voter register, Voters between 24 and 34 years made the highest proportion of registered voters, at 29.6%, while the lowest proportion of voters was those aged 50 and upwards, at 17.1%.

Individuals less than or equal to 24 made up 24.4% while older men older than 34 but less or equal to 50 years of age made up 28.9%

Mr. Nshindano also said that only 43.2 percent which represents three million thirty five thousand, four hundred and seventeen of the registered voters were able to verify their details of which 57% representing one million, seven hundred and twenty seven thousand six hundred and seventy nine verified physically, while 43% representing one million, three hundred and five thousand, seven hundred and thirty eight verified digitally using USSD & URL.

Meanwhile it was also disclosed during the media briefing that Western Province had the highest number of verified registered voters at 64.7% of the provincial registered voters with Lusaka province having the lowest number of verified voters at 24.5% of provincial registered voters.
