The training of journalists in practical safety and security standards is an important initiative because it contributes to enhancing police-media relations and also good conduct journalism. Journalists often work in risky and unsafe environments, hence it is important to equip reporters with safety and security strategies during their journalistic work especially when covering riots, violent demonstrations, VIPs, wars and other similar assignments. The relationship between journalists and the police during their work had always been antagonistic and characterised by misunderstandings and antagonism. The training organised y Bloggers of Zambia, Zambia Police Service with support from the government of Germany has contributed major value and recognized by stakeholders as necessary to strengthening police-media relations, protecting journalistic work, protecting freedom of expression, access to information and expanding on democracy in Zambia.
The training of journalists was held from June 7, 2021 to June 11, 2021 at Lilayi Police College and 15 June 2021 to 18 June 2021 at Kamfinsa School of Public Order Management in Kitwe.
