THE ROLE OF CITIZENS IN COMBATTING HARMFUL ONLINE CONTENT

When people can speak out and speak for themselves, they are able to contribute directly to democracy. Therefore, all voices must be heard.

When we think of freedom of expression, we should remember the old adage; my rights end where yours begin.

Freedom of expression is not an absolute right. It has restrictions that are in place to protect everyone involved.

Defamation, hate speech, incitement and even the spread of misinformation and disinformation are actually dangerous for a democracy.

Lawful limits to freedom of expression does not include muzzling the press or censorship.
